FRAMES OF FREEDOM

We are delighted to welcome you to the 2nd Annual Ukrainian Film Festival in Los Angeles!

Our goal is to build cultural bridges and immerse you in the fascinating world of Ukrainian culture, to introduce you to remarkable people and offer a glimpse into the lives and experiences of Ukrainians, including their ongoing struggle for the right to live freely, through one of humanity’s most beautiful and powerful inventions: cinema.

Over two days, October 17–18, we will present some of the best Ukrainian films of recent years, offering diverse perspectives on history and the present, art and science, fiction and documentary filmmaking.

On the first day, join us on three extraordinary cinematic journeys that have captivated audiences and set new Ukrainian box-office records. Travel with Dovbush, a legendary Ukrainian Robin Hood, through the breathtaking landscapes of the Carpathians. Journey to Antarctica alongside a team of Ukrainian scientists. And then venture into outer space in a thought-provoking story that invites us to reflect on the meaning of life and what it truly means to be human.

The second day is dedicated entirely to powerful Ukrainian documentaries, films that capture real lives, reveal untold stories, and demonstrate how documentary cinema can become a powerful tool for protecting human rights, preserving truth and memory, and strengthening civil society.

Different stories, different worlds, yet connected by love, courage, strength, and hope.

Last year’s theme was RESILIENCE, a word that speaks to the extraordinary spirit of the Ukrainian people and their refusal to give up.

This year, we invite you into FRAMES OF FREEDOM, a celebration of the freedom to create, to dream, to tell our stories, and to inspire the world through Ukrainian cinema.

And we look ahead with hope, believing that our next festival will carry a very special theme: VICTORY.

Come experience great films and meet the directors, producers, and stars who bring these stories to life.
